Hi everyone,
Please share your ‘must have’ toys for a four year old? My little boy has a nice selection but nothing that he is massively interested in and looking to get some fresh ideas!
I am hoping to encourage some independent play!
Thanks!

Car mat, toy cars and garage, Duplo
In the summer he spent hours in the sand pit and with his AquaPlay lock box.

We had a paw patrol truck with all the little vehicles when DSS was that age. A solid favourite for a good couple of years.
Also he had a Thomas the tank engine train set

Playmobil, Lego, building site toys and Mechano at the moment. He can't actually follow the instructions with the Mechano but he likes joing the bits together at random.

Wooden train tracks and trains

Garage and cars and tracks, dressing up clothes, little figures of whatever they are interested in (for mine that's superheroes), Lego/Duplo, art stuff colouring books related to interests, magic water colouring books good for car journeys, jigsaws, playdough/kinetic sand .

I think it depends on the child. Mine have all loved magnet tiles - my 6yo and 8yo still play with them now. You get all different shapes and can build 3-D structures. Very cool and really good for independent play.

Our DS loves his fireman Sam toys. He loves Wallaby 2, the little jeep one which sprays real water, well all of them really.
He loves role play games so police dress up, notepad to write out his parking, speeding fines, fireman dress up with his fire extinguishers.

A play kitchen with paraphernalia. Or a duplo train. Depends a bit on the kid though.

We’ve got DS magnetic tiles, schleich dinosaurs (mostly second hand), yoto cards and books for Christmas. Plus some stocking filler little bits. (Very prepared this year as baby due imminently!)
