My son is coming up 6 and totally disinterested in toys most kids his age seem to like like playmobil, playdoh etc. He''s been this way a good year now. The only thing he's interested in is minecraft and the only thing he ever really wants to do is play minecraft on the PS4. So we've done the whole minecraft lego {quickly gets all broken and lost then never played with again} minecraft figures which he will occasionally play with but mostly just hoards. He will occasionally sit and colour etc but only for a few minutes a time. I'm trying to limit screen time but he will just sit and complain he's bored for hours on end. I really just want him to be able to play independently or with his younger sister for short periods.

Any suggestions would be fab!

My nearly 6yo plays with gravitrax, Lego, dominoes, marbles, he also has electronics.
To be honest you need to get rid of the video games for a couple of weeks. Tell him it's broken or ban it.
Then introduce a system to limit time spent on it.

Mine loves Lego and little toy vehicles, he's got one of those cityscape rugs with roads and he'll play for ages at police chases etc.

My just 6 year old plays with lego, nerf guns, imaginex stuff, marvel figures, craft stuff, and those magnetic building things.

Limit the screen time. A bit is fine but ifhe can't self regulate you need to do it for him.
