Balance bike for confident 3.5 old boy

My son loved his LA Sports" balance bike but now it's broken was looking for a slightly bigger one hopefully to tide him over. His last one had 12" wheels, weighed about 3kg and max saddle height 42.5cm. Am struggling to find one that can be higher but also lightweight. I like the rubber tyres as he has a tendency to go over stuff which could cause a puncture. Also are brakes a good idea or not? Thanks in advance.

The criteria to help you choose the best balance bike for your son or daughter of any age and ability are:

  1. size
  2. weight
  3. geometry,
  4. tire type
  5. brakes
  6. turning limiters
  7. footrests
  8. bearings
  9. frame materials
  10. hand grip
  11. bolts.

    I would recommend Y Velo Balance Bike for £49.99 on <a class="break-all" href="//www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00P83UNSI/ref=asc_df_B00P83UNSI43056885/?creative=22374&creativeASIN=B00P83UNSI&linkCode=df0&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21" rel="nofollow noindex" target="_blank">Amazon

We have a Strider and are really pleased with it. Just had a quick google and the seat adjustment goes up to 48cm.
