Duplo ok for 12 month old?

Hi all,

My LO is turning 1 in December and I have been looking for various options for both her birthday and Christmas. I am considering some Duplo for her as the beginning of an on going collection, not necessarily expecting her to use it correctly for a while but enjoy the colours/lobbing it at my head etc. Some Duplo starts from 18 months but does not seem to have a choking warning on it. Is that just as an age suggestion as to when they tend to learn to okay with it properly? Has anyone bought such a toy under the recommended age? I'm not really considering mega blocks as I quite like the different sets with Duplo, including the Disney range.

Cheers x

DS2 (14mo) has been playing with his big brother's Duplo since he could grasp with reasonable accuracy. I have never been remotely worried that he would choke on it. Go for it Smile

My DD started to get the hang of duplo at 18m but found mega blocks much easier. At 2 the mega blocks have finally been dropped. You could start with duplo animals (zoo set) and work up from there. The animals are big enough to be safe.

DD (14 months) has been playing with her brothers duplo since she was much younger than 12 months.

She loves it and is starting to be able to slot the bricks together and put the people in cars and push them around saying brum brum.

Definitely not too young go for it.

Brilliant! Thanks guys. Thinking of getting a set and putting the blocks in a stocking (not that she will get Christmas this year but will enjoy pulling toys out of the stocking).

We got our LO also Duplo for her 1st birthday ... she could not stuck them up but enjoyed taking blocks apart ... no chocking hazard as the blocks are big :) xx
