good quality building blocks and finger puppets.

Can you recommend high end building blocks - preferably wood? They don't have to be coloured but different shapes would be nice.
Environmentally friendly sourced materials a must.

Can anyone recommend some good quality finger puppets - either little people of farm animals?

Ikea finger puppets seem to last and last and last. Not sure of materials or sourcing though.

We have Haba wooden blocks. Not cheap but lovely and apparently sustainably sourced beech wood. We chose a 'discover the technics' vehicles set at first, comes with clip on wheels and things- you can also get bits and pieces that go with them for marble runs etc. Already had load of use, and I can see we'll hang on to them well after the kids have grown up. We found the German retailer Jako-O to have good prices.
