what do we think of springfree tramplines, worth the £££?

Springfree trampolines here.

I'm finding the sales pitch about extra safety features quite persuasive and am hovering over the 'buy now' button, but thought I'd check with you lot first.

So. Am I complete mug who's just about to chuck a load of cash down the toilet?

Would I do just as well with a 150 quidder from B&Q?

I was tempted, but opted for a jump king with an internal net. Once the net is inside the springs safe imo.

Ha! I've just been looking at the exact same thing this afternoon! They do look amazing and a friend has one and swears by it. I think if you can afford it, go for it but it's way out of our budget. Hmm We are settling with a jump king which has good reviews and will be good enough I guess < desperately wants a springfree>

Don't bother. Just go round to friends houses who have them. The novelty will wear off if you get one and you will have a huge thing causing a shadow which kills your grass. What a mizog I am!!!!

cheers alan. I'm really leaning towards saying, sod it, let's get one! Grin

spudmasher, yes you are a mizog! We have a section of barked area for it already (as previous owners had a trampoline there) and no friends on the street with a trampoline.

I'm hoping it will perhaps drag the minecrafters away from their screens now and again Smile

We are looking at buying a new trampoline and tbh I can't see why ' no springs' is any better, we have one with springs and no one has ever been injured by them, we will be going for the cheapest option.

There is the worry it won't get used I guess, esp. If you pay mega bucks. However, our neighbours kids are on theirs before and after school! Day in! Day out! The constant creaking I can hear is rubbish, but it seems they like it.

Trampoline is the most used present ever in our house! We got one that has a cover which means that the kids have never had a foot near the springs. It works perfectly (despite what the guy on the ad in the link you described would have you believe) and the kids have never had an injury. They play on it pretty much every day, even in the winter!

Since DD managed to break her wrist falling on the main mat and has only fallen on the frame because of using every cm. of a 14ft trampoline as a tumbling mat, to do cartwheels, walkovers and flips (She'd hate an internal net). I'd say you should be fine with a standard one.

No idea, without sending a DD to bounce in it, why octagons are better than circles.

We have had a 10 and now a 14ft tp. They are very well built.

DD 2 practices gymnastics for hours on ours.

We have a cheap external net, as we didnt bother until DD took to doing cart wheels. She'd destroy those internal nets, she uses every mm, it would be kicked to pieces.

The Springfree ones come from where I live in NZ and they always have them on display at events etc. here (there is even one at our local wildlife park!) so my dc have been on quite a few of them and a lot of their friends have one. They do seem a bit bouncier than some and seem to be very well made, but we couldn't justify the cost when we bought one either, so ended up with one for the equivalent of £100 that has an internal net. If money hadn't been an issue I probably would have gone for the springfree, but as it is, the one we bought does the job perfectly well :)

We have the to round one. It's brilliant, I'm sure the octagonal one will be as good.

We have a spring free and it seems to be a lot more durable than our last spring one. I'm very happy with it despite £££.

We have a springfree one. It's much better made, has a humongous weight limit and the safety net is impenetrable even if you run at it at top speed. It's just so much better quality than all the others

We have an octangal spring free - had it 3 years. It's great and so well used. In the summer we put the sprinkler on underneath it. Loads of fun.
