18 month Trike Suggestions - NOT Smart Trike

I bought a Smart Trike for my 18 month old for Christmas last year. He loved it, but unfortunately it was the worst £100 I ever spent and it's gone back to the shop. I won't go into all the details, except to say it was dangerous and a rubbish piece of kit.

Anyway, now that I've been refunded the money, I'm looking for a replacement.

I was just looking on Amazon at the Little Tike's version, but as he's 18 months now, I'm wondering if there's a better option.

He's a little bit small/less advanced than other little boys his age (still hasn't really got the hang off the scuttlebug for example) so i'm not super worried about him needing a 'proper' bike anytime soon, but would still be interested to hear any other options...

We're in London and i liked the smart trike to push him to the park and then unleash him!

I'm thinking if he can't manage a scuttlebug he will not be ok with any other form of trike for a while. We have the Little Tikes trike. Its ok but I wouldn't use it for anything other than round the garden - the seat is hard and small and the harness is rubbish and the trike is heavy and difficult for a parent to steer.

Radio Flyer do some nice quality trikes with parent handle and without but none of them have harnesses as far as I can see and if he can't manage a scuttle bug yet I think they will be a bit too advanced for him.

BTW DS1 was the same with trikes and bikes. It took him til nearer 3yo to manage transporting himself on a pedal-less trike and he wasn't safe to stay on a non-harnessed one til well after 2yo.

Was going to do my usual cry of "balance bike!" but it does sound like he isn't ready yet. And not what you are looking for.

How about pushchair to the park and a Toddlebike for when you get there?

marking place as I'm interested too. DD has the Scuttlebug but at the moment is just straddling it and walking (not got the hang of bending legs to scoot forward, in fact her legs just seem too long! )

Toddlebike looks good. Another option is a 3 in 1 micro scooter with seat attachment, that way it would last to when he's older too?

I've seen people recommend the micro scooter with the seat thingy, but I have no experience of it.
