DD iss going to be 2 in a week. She is fascinated by bikes (probably because DP is a keen cyclist). We would like to get her something but not sure what... balance bike, trike... Any recommendations? We don't have a garden so it would mainly be used in the street and park. I'm a bit concerned about road safety but don't know how well a parent handle would work. Most of the trikes with parent handles say 12m+ so does that mean she is too old? She is fairly tall and long in the leg. Thanks!

If she's tall enough, I'd probably look at a balance bike. DS had the islabike rohan - expensive, but really well designed and very light.

DS got a balance bike for Christmas when he was 20mo. He's now 26mo and really beginning to get it. We went for a long walk yesterday and he was pretty good at lifting his feet off the ground and gliding on hilly bits.

Cannot recommend a balance bike strongly enough. Got DS his for his 2nd birthday and he absolutely loves it. He's 3 now and uses it constantly. The fact he now won't need stabilisers is also a real bonus!

Oh and DS got a trike with a handle from gps on same day. It has hardly been used, it's too small and not very exciting compared to balance bike.

We got ours for £40 from amazon. It's wooden, lightweight and every time we go out with it people ask where we got it from!

Def a balance bike :)

Try and get one that is light and has a brake!
