Playmobil or Lego, fire range - for playing with rather than building

Ds will be 5 soon, he loves his fireman sam toys and station etc, and has asked for more for his birthday, so I was thinking of getting him a more grown up version.

Will I be better off getting the playmobil fire range, we have lots of lego (he has an older brother) and it falls apart as they try to play with it and then ends up just chucked in the lego box, but I read a review for the playmobil fire station which said it falls apart when played with so it doesn't sound much better, so is it any good for actual playing rather than just looking pretty like lego.

Lego fire range does look quite tempting, fire plane etc., the playmobil fire sets seem quite plain.

I know it's not either of your options but have you considered a wooden fire ststion? It's more robust than the Playmobil version and wouldn't get mixed up with other toys, like the Lego.

Playmobil is brilliant. Can be a bit fiddly but that doesn't seem to bother the kids.

Lasts forever and loads of play value. Lego is great for building different things, but its not really for playing with. Frustrating!
