girl lego vs unisex

Probably too early to post this, but got dd2 small pink lego box half price in sainsburys for Christmas, has been a big hit with all of them. Dd1 and dd2 now want more for 7 + 5th birthdays in feb. Which sets should I go for? They seem to like making up their own creations. Not sure whether to get unisex box set or olivia's treehouse or stephanie convertable. Have ds who is 2, so unisex makes sense, but don't want to put girls off with a sea of red + green (they both like blue though) which they can't use to build houses etc. Will probably get one set each and let them get some secondhand stuff for each other from handy 2nd hand toy shop. Any advice? Oh and proper bricks not just the tiny round single lid things as one will die each time I sweep up!

Why don't you just buy a big box of generic lego pieces? Then they can make whatever they want in any colours. Buying sets makes it MUCH more expensive and kids are less likely to make outlandish creations.

I also second the boxof generic lego, plus boards to build onto.
