DS age 5 wanted a r/c car for xmas, parents got him one from b and m which takes a zillion batteries, after 10 mins it became apparent the wheels wouldnt turn to take anywhere though it was a ncie looking lexus in gold, anway so as not to seem ungrateful we returned it to b and m today and they had non left so got a f1 type one which we got home to find the wheels dont even go round on this one arghhh so alas dh is going to get a refund on it and buy random tat from b and m and we are going to buy ds one ourselves so if you got one that works and if even better is rechargeable please share..........

Over the years we found that they were all mostly crap and drained batteries in minutes... now DS is 10 and he bought a fab one for his birthday which was £170 (swoon - we paid half, he paid half) but it is amazing, so I think you get what you pay for and waiting until he's older might be the only way!

thanks, kbear is probs right - i want him to have a big buggy type one we can play with outside but yeah todays trips have seen mostly crud so we is saving - he actually has a toy story one which spins round in circles till you choose the direction and its fine also, dh has just come back with a small aldley one in a tin for a massive £10 and started off the monster buggy saving fund with the change.......... already it seems the 10 job from maplins is a trillion times better than the tat from b and m mind...........

I can't remember the name of it but will link later when I ask DH - it is super powerful and not for under 10s I wouldn't think but fabulous!

Why don't you just buy rechargeable batteries anyway, a good set lasts longer then normal AA or AAA ones anyway.
