Toys for a 16-month old

Hi - I think it's time to buy some new toys for my 17-month old son, but I have no idea what to get! We spend a lot of time outside, but now that the weather is getting crappy I realize that he's outgrown most of his toys in the house. Any ideas? I'd love some input. His favorite game since he was 7 months old has been cup stacking, but I think it's getting old. Is there anything similar but a bit more advanced on the market? My nightmare is to spend a lot of money on some gigantic thing that he'll never end up playing with...

Shape sorters are perfect at that age. And vehicles - ones they can easily push/pull so not too big or small. Noah's arks are brilliant for loading/unloading and learning animal sounds too!

The happyland cars are good at this age. There is a set of three emergency vehicles which make noises too. Then you can add the people, houses etc as he gets older.

Building bricks perhaps?

My 15mo DS was also an avid cup stacker. He has discovered that he can do duplo (same sort of skill I think) and that is now very popular.

You can get some great eco-friendly toys at www.bambinogreen.co.uk, they have some great cup stackers and vehicles
