How to entertain a rampaging 9mo at home

My 9mo DS loves swimming, baby gym, the swings etc, but is impossible to entertain when we are at home. He basically just wants to crawl around/up and down the stairs/pull things out of bins. Have bought him lots of lovely toys (shape sorters, stackers etc) but they don't hold his attention for more than a couple of seconds.

Leapfrog activity centre was a hit until he started moving. Not any more.

Any recommendations on anything a marauding boy might like that will let me make a cup of tea now and again? Any views on activity cubes?

DS was similar. Only now at 22 months does he pay attention for much more than ten mins Grin
however at that age I used to have a break while he napped. When awake, I'd have a low box full of bits like various materials, household objects like a spoon, large padlock, beakers, spatula etc etc and he'd mess about in that for a bit. Also got him involved in household chores eg he'd throw clothes about while I'd do the washing/hang it out, play with the vacuum cleaner while I vacuumed, waving clothes while I polished etc etc.

Thanks for this. Was kind of hoping you'd say that there was this amazing piece of plastic from Amazon that would solve all my problems (!) but will definitely try out the lucky dip idea.
