Sylvannian Families going bald after one day

Dd who is 9 bought herself a little set of two kittens and accessories yesterday evening, she took the kittens into school today to show her friends. Both the kittens are going bald, is this normal? She paid £10 for something that hasn't lasted very long in my opinion.

My DD has had hers for years and none of them have gone bald. What were they doing?

belgo · 09/03/2011 18:34

Which cats are they? they pale beige ones?

They are toys that need to be looked after more then other toys, but I have grey rabbits that are more then 20 years old and still in good condition.

Yes they are pale beige; Tinker and Bouncer Tailsbury. I was shocked when I saw them this afternoon because I knew people collected them from years back, that's why I was asking on here, dd has only held them and put them to bed and down the little slide.

That does not sound right. It's expensive but really beautifully made- that is the USP.
From where did you buy them?

soggybottomflancase · 09/03/2011 19:08

Toys r us. They are the proper ones.

That is most annoying. I would return them and get another box- maybe it's a manufacture fault- glue spray ran out or something.
You pay good money for a quality product and that is what you should receive.

If the next set do the same then it is a sad day in Sylvania....
Let me know what happens.

soggybottomflancase · 09/03/2011 19:15

I was going to return them, I'm very dissappointed and did think that there must be something wrong. Have they always been made in China?

I had a good look at the beige cats last night, and they haven't been played with that much, but the ears are going very slightly bald. I don't consider them to be hard wearing toys, but if they are bald after one day, then you should send them back.

I have an original box from 25 years ago, I will look and see where they were made.

Well Toys r us gave us a refund with no problems and dd decided that she wanted the white rabbit family instead. I agree with you spudmasher it's probably just a dodgy box, there are loads of used sets on ebay that look in great condition.

To be on the safe side she won't be taking the rabbits to school!
And thanks everyone for your replies.

Glad she got the refund. My girls have the white rabbit mother and double pram set, it's adorable.
