DD loves games and as it is her birthday coming up, and people are asking what she wants, I thought new games would be a good idea -

Any recommendations ?

She has and loves, guess who ? Junior monopoly, junior scrabble, various others.

junior cluedo very good, was going to recommend Junior Monopoly too but see you already have it

anything from Orchard Toys - their games are usually very good

cranium cadoo is fun also

We have just got a lego game called shave a sheep which is excellent, 5yo loves it but fun for adults to play too.

Will sounds like a very pushy parent now but my nearly 6 yo also loves playing chess, he knows the moves for all the pieces and is just starting to be able to think more than one move ahead and I am now struggling to beat him.

How about draughts or chinese checkers?

Orchard Toys make lots of games that are fun and educational. Also, dd, who is 7, really enjoys Junior Articulate.

Frustration (I think it's also called Pop? Where there is a dice in a dome in the middle and you move the counters around. It's quite good for logical thinking & it's fun!).

PM Me if you want an explanation of any of these :)

Rumikub

Tri-onimos

Mastermind

Battleships

Yahtzee (but just buy the pads& some dice! No need to waste money on the box)

Game of Life - personally I hate the game, but kids always seem to like it!

Boggle

Jenga

Pack of cards - start them young :)

oh yes, another vote for Articulate junior here, and shave a sheep - 8 adults played that at about 11 pm on new year's eve - good fun!
