my dd is 3 next weekend, and we are thinking sylvanian families would be a good present as she can grow into them and keep them for longer than other toys purely for her age.
Any views?

sorry but think she is too young. The manufacturer recommends for 4+ which I think is fair. They have tiny accessories and she'd value them much more in a year or two.

Agree with LIZS. They are expensive and do get lost /broken if not looked after.

Duplo is a better idea.

DD was given some for her 3rd birthday - just some little animals (cats I think). She likes them but she took all the tiny clothes off them and couldn't get them back on and then they all got lost. She still likes playing with the naked cats though :) The playsets / houses are definitely too fiddly.

they have teeny weeny accessories. my dds got into them when they were four and five. three is probably too young
