IKEA/other wooden train track compatibility?

DS received some Asda wooden train track for his birthday, and some of the IKEA stuff for Christmas.

I thought all the wooden train tracks were compatible, but it's not so. We really struggle to push them together, and some of the curved pieces don't fit together at all.

Before we buy any more track, can anyone tell me whether the IKEA one is properly compatible with other brands?

I'm pretty sure IKEA fits with brio and tesco tracks.. you could take a piece with you and see?

Hmm, so maybe it's Asda turning out rogue track.

I have always found that they all fit together fine - except Ikea, which is difficult to fit in with others, you can do it, but it isn't as good a fit.

I bought some track from Ikea to go with our Tesco one but it didn't fit together, so I gave it to my friend to use with her Bri track and it fits perfectly.
