Can anyone recommend a boy's bike that is good quality but not crazily expensive? TIA!

What is your budget? What kind of riding does he do -- is it just for bumming around the neighbourhood, or could you envision going 4 miles with him on a regular basis? Mostly on road or off road?

No actual budget but we don't want to spend more than we have to iyswim. It is just for bumming around, usually on the paths and grass of the local park.

You probably should go to Halfords and local reputable bike shops, and buy the lightest bike you can get for your money (weight is the best single predictor of how good the rest of the bike parts are).

Try to avoid suspension and gears, both a bit pointless for your needs. Odds are that your child will fit on a 20" wheel bike which will last longer and is easier to get tyres for.

Brilliant, thanks!
