Did DNephew see a ghost?

Talking to DNephew (7) yesterday about ghosts and things. He’s always said he’s never seen one and unsure if he believes in them. Yesterday he said he’d seen one at his friend’s house on a play date but didn’t elaborate. My DM changed the subject!

He is prone to telling porkies, so is he telling the truth or not?

He did though I think see something years ago when he was young in a graveyard in Somerset.

Of course he hasn’t- there is no such thing.

How do you know though?

You seem to have discussed ghosts with him more than once and suggested to him that ghosts exist. Unsurprising he wants to please you and has now said this.

Because there is no evidence and the idea is outside how we know the universe works.

I just joke with him as he likes drawing monsters.

He says he saw something (children playing) with me and his cousins (they didn’t see) when he was 3 or so. In a playground that had gravestones stacked up at one end which you couldn’t see clearly. He knew nothing about ghosts then I can assure you.

I don’t want him set up as a ghost hunter or anything.

He doesn’t want to please me either. In fact he’s more likely to just say he didn’t see anything.

Anyway it’s probably a fib.

If you’ve not discussed ghosts with him before why did you say ‘he’s always said’ and ‘isn’t sure whether he believes’?

Sounds like he has creativity and a good imagination.

That was only yesterday and briefly. We don’t discuss ghosts on a regular basis at all. He knows of them through cartoons and films.

He is very creative and has a lively imagination and we encourage this.
