Could my house be affecting my relationships?

I’m posting this here because I genuinely don’t know whether this is complete nonsense, psychological, or something a bit harder to explain.

Over the last couple of years, I’ve had more than one psychic say, unprompted, that it’s my property that is somehow “blocking love” or that the energy around it is affecting relationships. I dismissed it at the time, but I’ve noticed such a strange pattern that I’m now starting to wonder.

Things with men can be going perfectly normally, and then as soon as one of the following happens, the energy seems to shift:

  • we speak on the phone / FaceTime while I’m at home
  • they pick me up from the property
  • they come to the property or even seem to be near it

It sounds ridiculous written down, but I’ve noticed that this often seems to be the point where things suddenly go odd. Either I get a very similar sort of message after a date, or they become distant / strange / flaky in a way that feels quite abrupt.

I’m not saying I think the house is haunted, and I know there are plenty of rational explanations. It may be that I’m different when I’m at home without realising it, or that I’ve become overly aware of the pattern and am now reading too much into it.

For context, I used to read playing cards for myself, so I am probably a bit more open-minded than average about this sort of thing, though not to the point of assuming everything is paranormal. I have also saged the property before, mainly because I was curious whether it would make any difference.

What makes me pause is simply how specific the pattern feels. It isn’t just “dating has gone badly” — it’s that there often seems to be a noticeable shift once the property becomes involved in some way.

Has anyone ever had a house or flat that seemed to affect a particular area of life in a strange way? Relationships, mood, luck, general energy?

I’d be interested in both sceptical and paranormal views, because I genuinely can’t tell whether this is coincidence, subconscious behaviour, or something else? Or even from reading tarot. I’ve recently been told y the psychic to just move house. I’m seriously considering it. It’s too weird not to be a pattern. It’s every. Single. Time. That the house is involved.

please don’t judge for this. Idk how to cleanse or fix this shit.

The house isn’t affecting your relationships. You’re right, it sounds ridiculous. Because it is.

It’ll be the Maggie Thatcher poster behind you when you FaceTime and the England flag hanging from your window when they visit.

Realistically FaceTiming someone or getting to the point of them coming to the house suggests you’ve only met them previously a handful of times on dates, and they’re not interested in taking things to the next level with you.

OP, have you ever heard of feng shui? Apparently it can improve the energy in your home, making it more peaceful and welcoming?

Can you clarify what you mean physics have told you unprompted? I initially assumed you meant strangers coming to you and telling you this but reading the rest of your post and your beliefs in what others might consider woo, it sounds like you’ve possibly sought physics out for a reading? If you buy into all that stuff, is it possible there’s decor or traces of it in your home that suggest it’s a big part of your life?

I personally don’t beleive in physicists or wok stuff but I have two very close friends who do, I don’t judge anyone who does believe in it all (like I say, my two close friends are into it all) , it’s not that I’m closed minded I just haven’t ever encountered anything that makes me believe it, both friends have lots of decor around their home that makes it obvious the tarot, psychic, and woo stuff is a big part of their personality.

Either way, I’m wondering if the issue is that the men you’re dating maybe don’t share those beliefs and spot decor in your home that makes it clear you do and so they back off?

Assume you mean psychics and woo? Physics and woks are very real Grin

How often has this happened and for how long?

I have definitely shifted my opinion of some men after seeing their homes and so I don’t think you’re mad but it may not be the reason you think.

Have you say FaceTimed them in different locations and then FaceTimed them in the home?

It’s difficult to know because it depends on how often you’ve met these men, how often you had sex with them etc before they went distant.

OVienna · 10/04/2026 10:28

Don't think there is anything woo here, OP. There could well be something about your property that is putting them off though. Do your friends have the same reaction? The woo explanation sounds like someone is beating around the bush to me and maybe afraid to be honest about your tidiness or style of decoration. You need to ask someone IRL to be very blunt.

ValidPistachio · 10/04/2026 10:34

You’ve already “saged” the property‽ What the hell am I reading?

Do you have a “Vote Reform” poster in your front window?
