In my old apartment, there was a weird little room going off the living room at the back. It was too small to be a bedroom but too big to be a cupboard, so we just used it for storage.
When you sat on the sofa, your back was to this room, and you could just feel someone watching you from that room. It wasn't only me who felt it, but even guests would turn around uneasily and see who was there, and comment on the spooky feel to this little room.
My dog always sits on the sofa with us, curled up all cosy, but in this apartment he'd sit on the floor, facing the sofa and staring at this door at the back of the room. Sometimes, his eyes would follow something around at the back of the room, he'd be watching something move, but there wasn't anything there that we could see. He didn't seem angry or scared, but interested, and he would wag his tail and jump up occasionally and do a little alert bark, still watching this thing.
My baby used to point at something in the same area as my dog would stare! He was too small to speak at this age, but he'd point, and babble, and his finger would be following something around, just like my dog looked.
One day my DP was standing with his back to this area, and he was being grumpy and moaning about something. I was getting annoyed with him and we had a bit of a bicker. I can't remember what he said, but it wasn't nice, and immediately afterwards he shouted "Ow!" and leapt forwards. Someone had jabbed him really hard in the back just after he'd made his angry comment. He was terrified. The jab had come from this area. I was very satisfied and decided that whatever spooky thing lived in that cupboard was a good friend of mine, and could stay. 😁
When I moved into a new apartment, it had a lovely, safe feel to it almost immediately and a very strong presence of someone there. There is a living room downstairs with three bedrooms, a kitchen and a bathroom, and upstairs there is another bedroom, a bathroom and a roof garden. The floor had floorboards but they're old and very creaky. You can hear every footstep. Often, you can hear people walking upstairs - very clear footsteps walking in the upstairs bedroom. Again, I'm not the only person who has witnessed this, and even the estate agent acknowledged it as it happened when we first viewed the apartment! It WOULD be spooky, but the feel in the apartment is just so nice, I can't explain it. It feels like there's someone else there, all the time, but it also feels like a kind presence. Like a nice grandparent or something.
The bathroom has a frosted window (I live abroad and this is common here - weird, I know) and a couple of weeks ago, when the door was shut, I saw, clear as day, someone walk past the window. A black shape, like an outline of a person. It was so clear that I was scared to open the door because I thought it was a real person! But when I finally mustered the courage to fling it open, there was nobody there.
I sometimes wonder whether this is the same presence as in the old apartment, and maybe it came with me! Otherwise, what are the chances that two things would happen in two apartments that we lived in in a row?
