Out of body

When I was a child, my neighbours had rabbits. I really wanted to see these rabbits but a large hedge was in the way. All of a sudden, I seemed to start rising into the air until I could see over the hedge. I remember being extremely frightened that I wouldn't be able to get down. All of a sudden, I was back in my body with no clue what had happened.
From then on, I've been petrified of heights!
Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Yes, me too. I was just thinking about this the other day. Absolutely convinced I could fly.

When I was about 10? I was having something done at the dentist and had the mask with gas in it.
I vividly remember floating above myself and watching myself in the chair with the dentist doing what he was doing in my mouth.

Was very odd and no one believed me.

Our brains can do crazy things!

When I was a kid I was asleep and in the middle of the night I found myself on the other side of my bedroom looking at myself lying there. Then nothing. I also remember one night standing at the top of the stairs and the burglar alarm blaring then running in my room and putting my hands over my ears to drown out the noise until my mum and dad came out and stopped it. Think I must have been sleepwalking that time and dreaming the first but it was very real

I remember as a child flying up to the ceiling. Seeing myself in bed sleep then floating back down into my body and having the covers pulled over me.

Maybe it was a very vivid dream but I remember it clearly.

Not astral projection but i can control my dreams sometimes. If I wake..i get back to sleep to try and get back into the dream to finish it off or to lead it in right direction

The simplest explanation is always to one to go for. Dreams.

I had the floating above myself in bed thing as a child too. I also have vivid memories of being able to float down the stairs. I read on here once that it's a very common phenomenon in children and is basically a combination of the brain remembering the feeling of being carried as an infant, dreaming about it, and the child confusing the dream with reality.

Makes sense, but not very woo I'm afraid.
