The unexplained
Have you ever seen anything spooky or paranormal on the London Underground?

I just started watching this documentary and really enjoyed it:
It got me wondering, have any of you ever seen anything spooky or paranormal on the London Underground (other than party goers on a Saturday night)?
AlbertBridge · 29/08/2021 16:52
No, but I'm watching that now snd it's awesome. 🚂 👻
HerRoyalRisesAgain · 29/08/2021 16:58

I haven't, but my DF's cousin is an engineer for London Underground, and he has seen some strange stuff when inspecting tunnels. Nothing paranormal, but men in uniform with guns (army I suppose) and certainly people trying to live down there, and very big dark coloured foxes.

Only Jeremy Clarkson, I thought he hated public transport.

I work for the Tube. Quite often the older stations creak or bang during the night. IIt's just fans, wind, airflow or signage moving. On nights we have a lot of contractors and their work can sound spooky. I used to work at Gunnersbury and the windows would shake and clatter, which freaked me out, but it's just poor maintenence by NR (who own the station) and if you didn't know you'd think there was a spirit causing havoc. Stations on bridges like Gunnersbury creak A LOT.

Hahaha I’m glad I’ve helped you all with the evening entertainment!!

@TheYearOfSmallThings
That’s so sad that people are attempting to live down there

Tube worker here too and ive never seen anything odd. Some stations are definitely eerie after closing though. Kennington is one of them. I used to get a strange feeling on the platforms there after close of traffic. Many stories from managers that have done 30 odd hears about ghosts though.

Really enjoyed that documentary, thanks for the link!
No stories of my own, I only travel on it these days when I visit.

Thanks for the link... I have nothing useful to add despite years of underground commuting but loved the documentary.
Do you know of any other similar ones? We have 2 covid cases in the house so need distraction!
BertieBotts · 02/09/2021 12:28

Loved this one too - The Boy Who Lived Before. If you want another spooky one.
There was a recent Underground one called Secrets of the Underground, that might be worth a watch? Can watch on demand:

I've heard this is good too but it's only audio (radio programme)
Gonnagetgoing · 29/09/2021 16:59
Me - not necessarily seen anything or that I can pinpoint. But there have been lots of 'jumpers'.
My nana also used to tell me about how when I think Balham or Clapham South tube station was bombed during WW2, flooded and people down there were drowned and apparently handprints of drowning people were on the tile of the tube afterwards. That's spooky but more desperately sad.
