Ten of Swords followed by Two of Cups - meaning when together

An acquaintance who is professional reader pulled them for me at a particularly bad time for me (today)
Can anyone put simply what one means following the other?
I'm so upset getting 10 of Swords. Not entirely surprised but so upset and scared. The Two of Cups followed it. Kind of contradicts each other? No time scales given for them. I'm not experienced with cards though

@alltoomuchrightnow My take, for what it's worth, is that the pairing of those two cards is ambivalent. Either way, a low ebb has been reached and the situation has been quite desperate. It would be difficult to go any further due to having exhausted hope and possibilities. Or at least it would appear and feel that way. A relationship might be at the heart of this bleak picture, and a casualty (or the cause) of the despair. But as devastating as the ten can be, it's also about seeing light on the horizon, the promise of a new dawn despite how awful things have been. And the two could indicate that a significant relationship will recover from the difficulties indicated or be a healing new influence.

I agree. The ten of swords is an ending of sorts, sometimes betrayal or loss but the sun is rising in the background showing that better things are ahead and, followed by the two of cups, I think that suggests a new relationship based on mutual attraction is starting

I'm going to be very honest here as I can't make sense of it all.
I'm in a relationship (fairly long term) that is now platonic and is quite abusive. Was planning to leave anyway.
Having an affair (but as I said, it's platonic with man I live with...he put our relationship into a celibate one - I've never cheated before and don't see this in black and white terms as cheating ) with a new man, I know, not ideal, should have left the old one first. It's complicated, I'm with guy one as a mutual convenience thing really. (practical level)
It's gone tits up with the new man, It's the new man I love and want to be with and saw a future with and would leave man 1 for (was always going to leave man 1) I want it to work out with the new man, it's shaky right now and this isn't because of my situation , he's always known about that. It's more about a misunderstanding and we are distancing right now.

and yes a very very powerful connection with Man 2 (we weren't looking for anyone... I mean given a pandemic and I'm living with someone, no way!) That's why it's so devastating to go wrong now

Both these cards do relate to man 2 (as far as i know), they were picked for me regarding my situation anyway. But the fact is that I'm living the pain of the 10 of swords re him, not man 1. There is no love re man 1

But, you do understand that the 10 of Swords represents in many cases a relationship that has broken down, a couple who have separated or have headed fir divorce? In which case it would be the relationship with Man 1 and fits the bill entirely.

I don't think, in all honesty that the person who has read for you has done a very good job of the reading if it has left you like this.

How long have they been reading cards?

Did they pull other cards or just two?

I'm sorry I can't offer a remote reading, but I don't believe in it, I prefer to get the people I read for to shuffle and pick their own cards

I would see the 10 being the bigger picture of your life. Does it appear to others that you have a good life? Home, husband, jobs etc? This does not mean you are happy.

Cups are linked with water and your cards give me the idea of fluidity and flowing emotions? Time to cleanse.

The two of cups is about relationships and whilst you may see this with the man you have been having the affair with I would suggest this card is about the relationship you have with yourself. About your need to become free flowing - to love yourself.

Yes Piece, that is true, people would be shocked to know how it really is with DP. The couple of friends I've told thought I was happy and settled. They didn't know about punches he's thrown in the past or the celibacy and thought I was sorted
Eine, I didn't ask her for a reading. She just happened to pull those cards when we were on Messenger. She is a professional though, it's her living . She's been doing it lifelong, she's in her mid 70s
