To ask if anyone else is psychic?

clouise2018 · 09/01/2019 15:27

I'm so interested in this topic and want to speak to others who are "psychic".

I don't know what's happening, but recently I have noticed so much strange occurrences and instances.

For example, I'll think of something and then literally not long after it will happen.

At first I thought it was just coincidences but it's happening almost every day now Confused

I hope I'm making sense and would love to hear from others who have experienced this!!

I'm with the load of bollocks brigade.

Whisky2014 · 09/01/2019 16:13

My mum is psychic.

No, she isn't.

Craft1905 · 09/01/2019 16:14

I told my brother he would soon be coming into money, and that night he shagged a girl called Penny.

BillywigSting · 09/01/2019 16:14

I do wonder about it sometimes.

I am it's only when someone is about to die.

I had a horrible feeling of dread before Christmas, like the feeling you get as a naughty child and you know you are going to be in trouble. I put it down to the last few Christmases being spoilt by family drama but Christmas came and went and was pleasantly uneventful. I still had this horrible sense of dread and got the call on the 30th that my grandad had passed away in his sleep and the feeling had gone.

The exact same thing happened before my nana died, two of my friends and my cat.

I had very strange dreams about rocking up to school gates but not dressed in uniform, and seeing lots of motherhood imagery before I knew I was pregnant but after conception (was on the pill so about 12 weeks gone before the penny dropped)

There's also been the odd occasion where as a kid I'd think of something I'd really like for tea that I wouldn't normally eat while I was in school, and when I got home my mum would have picked it up for me on a whim.

Still pretty sceptical about the whole thing and it can be years between the bouts of 'intuition'

Whisky2014 · 09/01/2019 16:16

Old people dying. What insight!

Aprilshowerswontbelong · 09/01/2019 16:16

I have had weird premonition things happen, had a strange scenario that I met a man who worked at x, called y and we got married. Recently on the road to divorce I doubted it. Yet did indeed meet man x who had job y and we are married.
Also envisaged the year and gender of 2 of my dc and saw myself walking them down a St - their names were x +y. When they were indeed born in the correct years I called them x +y.

I’ve done some academic research broadly in this (from a literature perspective) mostly to do with telepathy and mindreading.

Essentially, the argument goes that it’s your subconscious picking up nuances and influence which you articulate to yourself as a thought/idea and that occurrence then happens.

Eg ‘mindreading’ is actually the ability to pick up on non-verbal cues. A really basic example is when you know someone’s pissed off at you. A slightly more complex example is when you know a car is going to unsafely pull out of a junction. We might not recognise the cue but something in that example tips off our subconscious and that tips off our conscious.

Extending that to psychical activity, I genuinely believe it’s the same thing. Those ‘feelings’ we get can be rooted in fears, forgotten conversations, knowledge of behaviour and personality etc.

bigredmachine · 09/01/2019 16:17

For example, I'll think of something and then literally not long after it will happen.

Like what. This is laughably vague! You could think of the sun coming up or piers morgan making an idiot of himself!

ps, you're not psychic.

MacarenaFerreiro · 09/01/2019 16:19

hahahahahahahaha

No.

Don't be ridiculous.

OdeToDiazepam · 09/01/2019 16:21

Toffee.. or sweet popcorn..

RandomObject · 09/01/2019 16:21

It's also worth noting that human memory is notoriously unreliable - you might THINK you 'thought' something the way it eventually happened, but chances are you probably didn't, your memory overwrote the details.

Camomila · 09/01/2019 16:23

I'm open minded but I think that the majority of people who think they are psychic (and aren't unwell or lying) probably just have really good cold reading skills/instincts....that we don't really need to be aware of in non caveman times.

My friend, as a medical student saw a lady he vaguely knew at a funeral and thought 'she'll be dead in 6 months' and of course she was. Now, as a doctor he is an excellent diagnostician.

thecatsarecrazy · 09/01/2019 16:25

I don't know i have something going on. On sunday night i couldn't sleep and was thinking about my nan. I had a call the next day to tell me she was in hospital.
I can normally guess when people are pregnant. Not because of anything they say just something i pick up,
I fell out with a friend once and was to stubborn to get in touch. I sat looking at my phone thinking please message me please message. Almost straight away i had a message. Probably nothing at all but who knows

DobbyTheHouseElk · 09/01/2019 16:25

OP you need to report yourself. They will move the whole thread to the unexplained at your request.

clouise2018 · 09/01/2019 16:27

@thecatsarecrazy I can totally relate, that's similar to what's happened to my previously.

It's hard to know exactly what it is, I don't know anybody else this happens to except me and my mum which makes me thing there is definitely something going on.

BartholinsSister · 09/01/2019 16:27

Strange the OP is the only one who didn't see this would happen.

clouise2018 · 09/01/2019 16:28

@DobbyTheHouseElk I will, but how do I do this?

I'm using the app on my iPhone currently

My partner gets exactly what you describe, it can be a gift, but also a burden sometimes, he'll know something bad is coming and not be able to do anything about it, like when I left him temporarily at one point and even I didn't know I was going to do that. He only told me a few years later. It's not all lottery numbers like people assume. He's only really opened up to me about it because, as you can see OP, most people dismiss it. So we never get to hear from people who are genuine like you and him because it gets shouted down. Psi Power by Hawkwind sums it up pretty well! Sure, there's charlatans out there, but also many people with genuine ability. I know he's very grateful that I believe him and I really do.

You might want to read the book(s) by Rupert Sheldrake, the lone voice in the scientific community who has said look, we need to investigate this better, not just keep dismissing it, as that is spectacularly bad science.

clouise2018 · 09/01/2019 16:30

@PurpleTrilby thank you so much for your response!!

It is hard to talk about for sure because not many people are open minded about it.

I would definitely like to read more about it so thank you for your suggestions :)

OP posts:
PurpleTrilby · 09/01/2019 16:30

PS - I strongly believe we all have a little bit of psychicness, but some people have it much more.

MacarenaFerreiro · 09/01/2019 16:31

not many people are open minded about it

People who are too open minded often find their brains drop out.

PurpleTrilby · 09/01/2019 16:31

Thanks and best of luck with developing and exploring what you have. :)

clouise2018 · 09/01/2019 16:31

@PurpleTrilby I agree.

Like I said, the only people I know of that this happens to is my mum so it does show that not many people experience this

I've spoken to other people about it and they just can't relate
