What do you call the little screw things which you fasten a bridle together with?

Help! Last week I assembled a bridle for a friend, using little screw like things to join the straps, which you had to do up with a screw driver. I obviously didn't do one up properly and when we went out today the bit fell off as a screw had gone! I feel guilty and feel I should replace lost screw-thing. What are they called and where can you buy a packet of them?

Sorry I haven't a clue, never heard of them. I've only ever seen buckles or stud billet things. Was it a special kind of bridle?

Just found this, it mentions 'Chicago screws' if that's any help.
this mentions them also so I assume it's a western thing? HTH.

That's the ones! And it could be a Western thing, as she has a mini Western saddle for the pony. Didn't realise they were unusual - thought everyone would say 'Oh, they are called xxx of course and you buy them by the kilo from any good horse feed shop.'
Thank you!!

Well at least I've learnt something.

And definitely western, I was looking to see how you'd get them in the UK as I thought they might have a different name (used to work for a fixings company and did many a stocktake but had never heard of them) and found this site.

They aren't unusual in western bridles. I prefer the ones that just have a strip of latigo through loops, you just do a single knot at the side. The screws do need checking from time to time as they can come undone.

Thank you very much! I ordered from the site Pixel found and (I hope) a Chicago screw is at this very minute winging its way here. Job done. Fluffy, obviously you are right - screws need checkin!
