I'm just so thrilled, I need to share with a group of people that will understand.

having had to stop riding at 28weeks pregnant due to pelvic discomfort, I waited until my 6week postnatal (yesterday) before getting back on. So my mum and sister came up with me primarily to look after DD but also to make sure someone was around to scrape me off the tarmac if spooky pony decked me in the first 6 seconds (not impossible )

Well he was pretty shocked by the sight of his saddle, I'm sure he was thinking he'd seen the last of it! and he mouthed at his snaffle like a greenie baby LOL. I mounted him slightly cautiously and he sort of shivered and tensed up - I could feel his back was right up but bless him he power-walked round his field with his eyes on stalks but didn't buck or run off. So we set off down the lane. Well all was going well until we got to the farm and encountered a field of PIGS . Major Panic Stations for spooky pony. We went backwards for quite some distance and then eventually forwards rather suddenly and at speed but once past them he settled back down.

This left me however in the akward position of choosing between either going back past the pigs or braving the A-road ahead [gulp]. We opted for the road and what do you know, the first thing coming in either direction was a lorry. I was prepared for the worst but apart from a little jump, he was perfect . Clearly he hasn't forgotten everything I've taught him! By the time we arrived back at his field i felt like I'd never taken a break and he looked jolly pleased with himself as well.

Not sure how long it will be before I ride him again, difficult with 6wk old DD to arrange, but it was great to get back on and do something just for me for a half hour.

Yay well done you! Not bad for a first outing. Congratulations on baby as well! Please can you send me some of your nerve?!

Am sure it won't be too long before you're itching to get back on.....
