I have MONSTER calves

do not understand it - normal wellies are ok, all other tall boots have been fine (Dublin, Toggi) and wear medium size half chaps without problems yet my shiny black leather boots are too skinny to do up

weeps bitterly

have sent back and am waiting for XXXXXXXL calf size to arive

There there Mitchy, I'm sure they just sent you beanpole supermodel size by mistake, you can't possibly be a freak if everything else fits! Or maybe you have just got very muscular calves from hanging clinging on to BroncoBilly Joey...

If you hadn't already sent them back I'd have said how about getting them stretched seeing as they are leather? Assuming they were only a bit tight of course.

Pixel · 02/02/2010 20:49

hanging clinging?? I'm going a bit mad!

CMOTdibbler · 02/02/2010 20:53

I think the boots must have been at fault - if you wear a medium chap, then your calves can't be that big.

My diet and exercise plan have meant that I am only just fitting into my large chaps that DH bought me for christmas

Are they dressage boots? I don't know why but dreassge boots makers only seem to sell to the shops in supermodel size, although they do make them in normal size too (which they call XXXXXXL ) and you have to make a special order for. Take a look at the riders next time you go to a dressage competition too, and tell me how many of those didn't have to make a special order .

I find that Regent make really nice shiny leather boots that are more of a normal size. Although I was not pleased to find that my pregnancy swollen calves didn't fit into my most beautiful hunting boots even 3 months after having my daughter. I did shrink back into them and they still fit me now, but not for long.....

thank you for making me feel slightly better about my monstrous calves (it is ME in a racier name)

I have prodded them a bit and obviously there is a bit of muscle as am on feet, tramping about for miles with unruly dogs for a living but alas there is podge too - who would have thought a diet of pizza and revels could result in that?

lady in shop said is quite normal for reasonably normal sized people (am a 12 or sometimes depressingly a 14, tho my 26" jodhs have grown with me) to need the XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXL calf fitting, so is perhaps not something to shed too many bitter tears over

I feel your pain. My Hunter wellies stay in the house cos they don't fit my calves and I have to make do with short boots. Even chaps are a bit of a squeeze.
