... anyone on here in mid-Wales and need someone to help out with their horse(s) occasionally? I have had a riding break of about 10 years but don't really want to have to rely on the local riding centre for my horse fix... However I really do need the horse fix, to occasionally escape from my very colicky and fractious DD and feel like myself again.

Probably too far away for you then. Mind you there's no riding to be had here atm - it's absolutely frozen solid and the road is neat black ice. I have only been out once in the last fortnight, and even then it was slippy. Horse is bored and leaping about on rock hard ground - I'm terrified he's going to hurt himself prancing around like a prat!

(glad to hear other people's horses are being prats this winter )

And now it's snowing hard - 3cm in an hour and no sign of it stopping. I hate playing hunt the poo in the snow, and then picking up all the ones I've missed when it melts.

At the least they'll be able to play in the snow!

It's meant to get to -11 on Friday night, how many rugs does a TB need to keep warm?! Currently he has 1 lightweight turnout, plus his Amigo h'weight with neck cover which is just about doing the trick. I have a quilted stable rug or a fleece I could put on as well - any suggestions as to the best combination, or should I just stuff him with food and leave him to it?

I'm glad not to be sploshing about in the rein, but have to admit I'm getting a bit tired of this snow and ice now!
