We went Friday afternoon, and it was brilliant. DS loved it, and sat happily from 12.30 till 5.

He was sitting on his rocking horse yesterday demonstrating how to do a lap of honour, and sweeping his play riding hat off. Then I had to be a white horse being told what to do.

I am also informed by DS that he will be in the shetland grand national when he is a bit bigger

awwww sweet

waiting for our lot to come back (unplaced but pleased) so I can return the yard dog!

wish I'd gone too tho

We went last night. Was fab. dd is Ben Mahers number one fan after meeting him. He was lovely!

mind you we had to leave before the finale cos the weather meant that dh couldn't come and give us a lift home. Clapham junction is an interesting place at midnight with a 10 yo.

MitchyInge · 22/12/2009 16:57

our lot got stuck overnight

how exciting though!

Goose came 9th in his class which is not bad is it?

CMOTdibbler · 22/12/2009 17:09

Were they all OK ? I think 9th is v respectable at that sort of level.

Riding school have a new shetland foal (owners present to herself). We went to see it today, and I am in love . DS really, really cute with Minstrel, hugging and kissing him. Funny, cos they are about the same size !

being rather thick - was that in the agility section?

Butkin · 22/12/2009 23:01

Had a brilliant time on Monday. DD loved it (she got a high 5 from Captain Hook as he left the Finale) - particularly the shetland in the white horse demonstration "Cute!".

She liked the dog agility, the 6 bar jumping and even the police horse demonstration. In all it was a totally perfect day until we came to leave and it was snowing outside. Trains ran late but at least we did get home at around 9pm.

Mitchy - well done with Goose, we were pleased to see him up close.

For those interested the first 6 in the M&M Supreme Championship were:

Ch Farriers Finger Print (a grey New Forest)
Res Pumphill Buckthorn (Dartmoor)

  1. Waxwing Rheel (C)
  2. Waitwith Westwind (A)
  3. Kilmannan Black Velvet (Dales)
  4. Kentchurch Galaxy (D)

Some of the Ds were pretty explosive!

When I was about 14 or so, my best friend's dad managed to wangle us seats in a private box his firm had (lord only knows how because he wasn't that high up!). We sat up there desperately hoping our heroine Princess Anne would go in to the royal box. We ate salmon and belgian pralines but weren't allowed champagne tsk! The "plebs" ;) below had greasy burgers and cokes.

To this day the Shetland Grand National is the best thing ever!

This time next year Rodders...

MitchyInge · 23/12/2009 12:52

I am definitely going next year - Goose has retired now but apparently went v well, great that a dartmoor (they are rekated!) took 2nd. Glad I didn't go on the coach with the others as they were stranded for 6 or 7 hours, yikes.

wonder who will qualify next year, some v nice new ones have arrived although they all seem a bit nuts at the moment
