Hi, my 10 year old is booked to take this test in a couple of weeks but as we were away she missed the training day that the PC had arranged. Does anyone have any good ideas for practise questions? On line resources? Etc I’ve looked on the PC website but that only has the syllabus Many Thanks

Just google ‘how to pass the pony club d test’ - there’s loads of stuff online. D test is pretty basic so if she’s been paying attention in her lessons she’ll be fine.

Thank you; yes that is what I had thought, but her PC are very reluctant to allow her to take the test as she missed the training!

Perhaps book her a lesson or two with a good local instructor who also teaches pc and knows the test syllabus well, D test is very basic requirements that need to be carried out competently. If she is riding regularly and gets her own pony ready she should be doing most of it easily anyway , maybe just needs a tidy up

We just always book a private session with one of the PC coaches to catch up when we miss training.

D test is one that you basically pass for turning up as long as they are comfortable around their pony and can do the basics. Private lesson with an instructor is a good idea if you can fit it in. The syllabus tells you what to go over. Do you have the manual of horsemanship to read over the relevant parts with her?

Morning all, thank you all for your replies. She’s with her pony every day, been in PC 3 years so I think she’ll be fine. I have booked a private session, have the syllabus, manual etc The instructors made it sound like such a massive test! Anyway fingers crossed…..

If she's been in pc for 3 years, is 10 and is riding and/or looking after her own pony most days she will easily pass her D test without any extra prep. If you do most of the work and just sit her on the pony she might struggle.

And now I've just noticed the dates and realised that she's probably done her test already - how did she do?

Jackanory1978 · 28/04/2026 07:05

Hi, she passed easily! She was super happy, on top of the world, thinks her pony is the best ever. She does look after her own pony daily and I honestly thought that would be enough to pass but the PC instructor made it sound so difficult, I shouldn’t have worried.

I’m not sure why they make it sound so hard. Probably for extra income for the club 😅. DD just did weeks of online training for her C test and it was all just stuff she knew inside out and back to front on the day. None of the more complicated stuff that they learned on the training
