I’m thinking about this - would be approx £500 per year for £7500 cover for accidental injury, colic surgery, pedal bone fracture etc.

Does anyone have any experience or views on this kind of policy?
A general policy would be too expensive and have too many exclusions for my horse who has a bit of a past.

I didn't realise this existed

There's still likely to be exclusions related to past history & check the fine print very thoroughly for what it pays out for as there are lots of exceptions eg if the horse has colic they may try medical management first (which will be excluded).

How likely would you be to opt for colic surgery or any other surgery eg following a serious accident?

It can be the right thing for some horse owners but you need to really do your homework so you know what exactly is covered & which scenarios won't be covered (which tend to be the ones you are more likely to experience)
