Bad feet …

I have a retired horse who lives in a herd, she is very happy and checked on twice a day. My only responsibility is having her feet trimmed every 2 -3 months. Someone I know also has a young horse in this herd. I had the farrier out this morning so was in the field and the young horses feet are AWFUL, hugely splayed, with big chunks out. I feel really bad for the horse, I know the owner, but I can’t make them get their horses feet done … the horse is completely feral and dangerous to catch otherwise I think I would have caught it and paid for the farrier myself … is there anything I can do? Should I do anything or just keep my nose out ?

It's a tough situation, can you let the owner know how bad they are , send photos.
Explain that if a young horses hooves are not sorted it's likely to cost £1000s in treatment and vet fees and be unsellable down the line.

If you get no where with the owner, report it to BHS and they will send someone out to have a word.
