Jazzing up 7.5T lorry

We are looking at buying a 7.5T lorry for short stay aways with ponies.

It has basic living, a small fridge and a microwave. One of the beds is in the Luton above the cab. Is there an easy way to make it safe so a person can’t fall out in the night? I think I’d prefer to sleep in the horse area, I’d be too worried about falling.

Would love ideas how to make the space more comfortable but also look fun, inside and out.

Basically, I’m looking for any horse lorry (or general camping!) tips!

Erm … I’ve never heard of anyone falling out of the Luton overnight… I don’t sleep there because I find it quite claustrophobic but dd thinks it’s really cosy. The living seating converts into a second bed which is where I sleep and it’s fine. You don’t want too much stuff floating around the living as it will fall off surfaces etc every time you go round a bend. We also have a gas ring so that we can make a cup of tea when hook up isn’t available. We got plates, cutlery etc from camping shops as that’s usually lightweight and not easily broken. We always have a box of lorry snacks which comes in handy, first aid kit for horses and humans, a couple of camping chairs to sit out in the summer, spares of everything but in general it’s all practical and essential rather than fun - but even so I love our lorry!

Thanks - good point about stuff needing to be safely stowed.
I have camping chairs and will put them in. I think I’ll look into a camping table. Do you have a portable loo?
I can also work out a way to stow bikes and a wheelbarrow.
Im excited about the possibilities!

We have a plumbed in toilet but to be honest we’ve never used it - we’ve always used onsite loos as I really don’t want to have to empty the reservoir it goes into … it’s good to know it’s there in case of middle of the night emergencies though! We store stuff like wheelbarrow/mucking out tools in the third horse partition, held in place with a gazillions bungee cords

Crikey. You’d also want to make sure you were securely locked in the lorry! 😳😂
