Anyone watching the puissance on red button? I’m glad the chestnt nutter has gone out, didn’t want to watch him again.

He should have withdrawn a lot earlier. Horse was so stressed.

It was awful - I was getting really annoyed with the commentators going on about what great entertainment it was. Even though that horse was wired to the eyeballs it was a saint to put up with that terrible riding.

Pricelessadvice · 19/12/2025 07:13

Horrid to watch.
I hope I never see that horse and rider in a Puissance again!

I hope never to see puissance again. Not that I watched it. It's one of those things that should really make the equine world give their heads a wobble and ask why are we making horses do this? The horses try so hard to do what is asked of them, and riders are asking too much.

Anyone watching tonight? I was enjoying a lot of it but thought the Hungarian demo - with the Lipizzanas - was a bit off - the horses they were trying to use to demo the “difficult” moves were not at all happy - I was very uncomfortable watching it - I’m not a horse owner, have ridden in decades - but love to watch. Was I misreading the horse’s body language?

I went to watch last night and honestly thought the display horses and riders all looked quite bored with it. I suppose that was their 8th performance in 4 days though so they probably wanted to get home and get out in their fields.

People were saying this when I was first riding 40 years ago. Amazed that it's still going.

I watched this unmounted section live and agree with you. The horse also looked very weak behind being led out, possibly lame with back issues. The rest was good though and the driven horses were amazing live.

It worries me as an everyday rider when these extreme and questionable displays are put on because it brings riding in general into question for the general public.

TalulahJP · 23/12/2025 18:16

i couldn’t watch the puissance. it’s just so bad for the poor horses. there’s no need for it. they should stop it. maybe we should get a petition up
