Advent Calendar Recommendation for 11 Year Old

Cher2005 · 10/10/2025 07:32

My 11 year old daughter is horse mad. She attends lessons and pony club every week but we don’t own our own horse.
She has asked for a horse advent calendar and i’m struggling, I have found the Schleich calendar but it doesn’t have great reviews and seems a little young for her. Any suggestions would be amazing, thanks!

can you make your own? Hobby craft have blank ones, then fill it with bits. If you know anyone with a cricut machine they could personalise it for you very easily. You could wrap the little gifts up and pop them in the calendar. Sorry no idea what those gifts would be though.

That’s a really lovely suggestion thank you. I’m not short of ideas for gifts 😄

Or have you seen these from Build up to Christmas? No horses, but does she like cats or dogs? www.builduptochristmas.com

I second the hobby craft idea - I got this one a few years ago for my son

Painted it up and now we use it every year with sweets toys stickers etc in.

There is a Lego horse. You could split that up into a page a day of instruction and bricks so she slowly builds it over advent. I did similar with a Schleich set and added a few other horsey/treat gifts. My ds is 12 now and looking at Effol and Fringe and Forelock. I’m steering her to cheaper alternatives! As if the hobby isn’t expensive enough!!

Thanks i’ll have a look at them all. It costs a fortune she enjoys it though surprised lemieux or similar haven’t brought something out they would make a fortune

I’d go with the make your own (Hobbycraft or similar) idea and yes Le Mieux would make a fortune if they bought one out! Even though my daughter is now an independent adult and no longer owns ponies/horses (yes we even had a 7.5t lorry and lived on baked beans for years) she does still ride (local stables to where she lives) and plays polo (you hire the specialist ponies for lessons and games) so I’d get her a Le Mieux one 😂

Good plan! And for next year on 1 December you could pop tickets for the London Horse Show at the Excel centre - shed love that

The equestrian box have done them in previous years. They do personalized horse & rider items then little things like treats, grooming brushes etc.

Aztec diamond do one. The teen size will fit most 11 year olds. It’s pricey though and perhaps a little grown up depending on the child. I had been going to get it this year for dd as her birthday is December 1st but she wouldn’t line the colours of this years included merch

That was meant to say dd wouldn’t like the colour, although the items are actually a lovely colour but dd boringly only likes navy or black 😆
