Hay replacer for winter

Hello! I have a 28 year old gelding who is struggling to maintain weight and condition over winter. His teeth aren’t great and he was struggling with his hay last year so looking at an alternative .

His hard feed would be - muscle and focus mash, vitality mix, and hifi senior.

I am looking at replacing hay with dengie pure grass pellets soaked to make a mash . He’s loves soaked grass pellets so I know he will enjoy this . Also considering HayCare by Simple Systems . Any thoughts or recommendations ?

We tried Silvermoor Veteran Haylage and he turned his nose up at it 🤦🏻‍♀️

I fed mine a hay replacer - he was given two scoops of Happy Hoof, two scoops of Spillers Fibre Cubes and two scoops of speedibeet every night. I would soak the cubes and speedibeet in the morning and add the Happy Hoof in the evening. He had barely any teeth and he lived until he was 38 having this. He was an Arab and you couldn’t even see his ribs the day he died. He lived very well on it.

He was out on the grass during the day. In the winter I had to make a smaller version of the evening hay replacer.

My toothless 43 yr old had Dodson and horrell’s health mash and about 3 feeds of fast fibre , with a bit of haylage , and she looked fabulous and was a holy terror till her last day .
