How do they all afford it?

Maybe IABU to ask the question?

Laid up on the sofa having come off my youngster yesterday. Knee like a football. Horse ok with just a tiny scrape thankfully. Watching horsey “content” on You Tube.

I admit to being a tad jealous! 😀. I am very lucky to have one horse that I can just afford because of where it lives but I am worried about the future if this current arrangement changes.

Just exactly how much does You Tube pay do we know? I know it’s not a question that is asked in polite company but I’d love to give up my proper job and work with horses all day!

I’m watching Emma Massingale, Ask Charlie How and Callie Coles. No nasty comments about the individuals involved please because they have they have put themselves out there and none of them could be described as idle.

Just wondering if I could do an alternative not-so-perfect poor man’s vlog but I look like I dress in a hedge most days and my horse is afraid of mobile phones! 😄

I know we are not meant to ask but obviously finances are central to how these channels work, but money is alluded to only in the vaguest of terms! It’s irritating and it’s the elephant in the room!

Don’t know about the other two but Emma does a lot of work providing ponies for advertising etc. She also runs demos, adventure horsey holidays and clinics. She doesn’t do so much YouTube now.
I watch a few horsey influencers and they do a lot of product promotions so are paid directly by brands either financially or sometimes just in actual products. Then they will also get paid by YouTube if their account is monetised.

Yes I saw an advertisement for one of Emma’s clinics. I would love to attend. I have learned quite a bit from her early YT videos. She is a fantastic horsewoman.

She has so many horses though? I just don’t understand how they make it work? I have a friend who runs natural horsemanship clinics demos and holidays and although they make some money, they cost a lot to run as well.

I guess brand sponsorship is a big thing nowadays. No hope of that for me! My riding is no where near good enough 😃

She does. But I believe she sold her farm and moved back to her dads in the last couple of years. She’s dramatically cut down the number of horses she had at one point and does sell horses from time to time. Horses ‘at home’ do cost less per horse and she does at least appear to keep them all out - which again is a big saving. Her husband is also in photography / advertising/ marketing sphere so I guess he brings in a wage too.

Yes that must be it. I do admire people who manage to work with horses ft. Massively hard work off camera though I imagine,

I watch Free Spirit Equestrian on YouTube and she did a video a few months back talking about her various income streams. I believe her income from social media (YT/Tiktok) was in excess of 6-figures, however she also has a merchandise business and a riding school program.

Couldn’t link the video but look at Free Spirit Equestrian - My Equestrian Secrets! What It Takes To Have A Profitable Horse Business

Thanks, I will have a look.

In excess of six figures? 😲

Wow. I can see the attraction now! 😆

Don’t get wrong, I know to get to that level it’s a ft job but that’s far more than I estimated was possible.
