Waterproof coat recommendations please

I am so thoroughly fed up with this rain … and my mood is not helped by my trusty sea salt raincoat losing its waterproofness 😩. So I’m on the lookout for a new, long, waterproof coat for dog walking, poo picking, general yard stuff and hanging around at competitions. I got a lovely Stierna raincoat for dd but I can’t do matching coats 😳 and I’m not massively keen on the equidry/dry robe type coats as they’re about as flattering as a bin bag. What have you found that is properly waterproof and looks reasonably stylish?

Just came here to say i love my Dry Robe and have two, one for yard and one for home/dog walking hahaha sorry! i dont care about how flattering a coat is as long as i'm dry. So i'm no help, sorry 😂

If you love your SeaSalt one, just get it cleaned then buy some Fabsil spray (eg Screwfix) and re-treat

@RedPony1 At this point I may cave …

@Ariela it’s many years old and has already been reproofed a few times and it’s got a broken zip and a couple of years so I’m thinks it’s time to retire it 😩

Afraid I'm another equidry fan - I look like a bright pink gnome in it but I don't care as I'm warm and dry. There's a reason that 10 of us in the yard have one!

I dud buy a montar coat a couple of years ago which is much more flattering and it's nice and warm but not as waterproof.

The new le mieux also looks nice!

Look on Holland and Cooper and the waterproof coats on Barbour.

Floralnomad · 16/10/2024 21:55

Reincoat used to be called Equicoat , lite and very waterproof .

Look at Go Outdoors!

The new equidry are more fitted & less like dry robes. Very good quality & waterproof.

The le-miuex long waterproof is fitted & more stylish but don't think you can layer up in the same way as an equidry.

I've just bought a rein coat lite. It's great and soooo waterproof.

I went for the thin one so I can wear it in the warmer wet weather we seem to be having.

Le mieux have got a nice long one which is fleece lined

Thanks for the suggestions - I think I’ve got a shortlist - has anyone tried either of these?

Equetech Utopia

or Uhip reflective coat
Uhip

UHIP have an excellent reputation. I don’t have one though, me and my DD have matching Stiernas 🤣. I’ve just bought a new one for myself, padding was going in the old one plus I’ve lost weight so it was big on me now. Still waterproof though after 4 years of doing everything in it.

I sized up a couple of sizes in my le mieux so can definitely layer and it's still reasonably flattering, however I class it as the premier equine rug of coats - looks good, bulky so assume warmer, fine in a shower, but when soaked it's so heavy, takes an age to dry, cuffs get really wet. Not quite as good quality or as warm as it looks . Wish I'd just bought an equidry (and stuck with my horsewear rugs)

Pleasedontdothat · 27/10/2024 21:38

I went with the Uhip in the end - they say to size down if you’re in between sizes and I could easily have gone down two sizes but at least I’ve got plenty of room to layer up underneath. It’s warm but not too hot, good hood and I love the reflective panels - typically it’s been dry here since it arrived so I’ve not been able to test out the waterproofness but I’m sure it won’t be long 😬
