Recommendations for Air Jackets

After a very scary experience at Nationals where (at least on the Teams SJ days) I witnessed a number of accidents that required ambulances, I am now going to make my teen jump in an air jacket.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I've read that some are less loud than others when they "pop"? How many canisters do I need to buy with them?

Please advise someone who is completely clueless (daughter has up until now always jumped with no body protector except occasionally with a Racesafe for XC).

We have a Hit A**ir which fits both DD and me - with added straps. We got three cartridges for 60 EUR, so far have only used one.

We went to a specialist shop and they tried several, the fitting is very different so worth trying if you can, they were all about the same price though :-(

It is quite quiet, like a gun shot a couple of fields away. None of the horses in my RS take it amiss, neither the chuckee nor the others in the lesson.

TBH I've seen nearly as many accidental uses because someone forgot to unhook it as from falls so be good to practice before using them.

Hit Air, not sure what happened there

Hit Air, they inflate on the outside rather than the inside.
The pop has never bothered any of our horses or horses nearby.
I usually have a spare cylinder so can replace if my son falls off then buy another one.

We bought a point two for dd. I think expanding inwards is more protective.

HitAir for us. Pops rather than bangs and after sales service is great. As there are three of us and all our jackets use the same sized canisters, I bought 4 spares as often the local tack shops don't have them in stock.

My kids participate in showjumping and I see a lot of accidents at all levels. One of my kids had an accident where the shoe left its mark on the back of her air jacket - well worth the investment as I think she'd have been more than winded if she'd had no protection.

I have a hit air, but definitely worth going somewhere where they sell both and trying them on.
