Pony stress, to give back loan?

I have had my mare for 4 years.
Have always had lots of time for her however my circumstances are changing, new job in september, single parent, my 17yr old is starting an apprenticeship so will no longer help me with the horse.
Im changing jobs to earn more money and work more hours and I dont really want to be paying out on more for full livery.
I feel torn with what to do. Send her back although I do love her very much but feel I get more and more stressed during the week having to think of when I can go and do her. Ive also lost confidence in riding and that stresses me out.
I just dont know what to do for the best.

Think it depends on whether she's the sort of horse that needs riding five times a week or if you can hop on once a month and she's chilled. You say you've lost confidence, so to enjoy riding again you probably need to factor in the cost of lessons too. Anyone at the yard you can pair up with for turn outs? Can she live out and just be checked once a day rather than twice?

I would hand her back, and go no-horse for a while, and see how you feel.

I am tempted to go no horse for a while. My 9yr old is riding and will continue to have lessons and I could book a hack at the riding school every now and then with no commitment.
Horse doesnt need riding regularly and I can easily get on after not riding for 2 weeks but I am paying out a lot of money to only be riding 5/6 times a month. We both dont enjoy schooling so only really hack

I’m very much of the opinion that it’s far too expensive to not be fun. If you aren’t enjoying it and it’s just causing you stress and anxiety it’s fine to call it a day
