Pony is rising 4 (next month), approx 13.2hh and has a really laid back personality. Sold as a ‘cob’.

I can see a lot of new forest pony in her and my friend can see Welsh. Must be some cob as she is very hairy!

Any ideas? Thoughts?

Thanks in advance ☺️

Sorry, can’t see any Welshie or NF in it, but a lovely cob all the same.

I can’t see any NF at all… looks like a “cob” to me. Close coupled, short neck, lots of bone and lots of feather

Thank you ☺️

Lovely pony, the spit of my old mare 😍

I'd say cob mainly too, she's probably got some growing left to do, slightly bum high still. She may well have some Welsh ancestry a few generations back, welshies were a common cross over a traditional cob many years ago when people were still breeding this type of pony intentionally, with the idea to get a smaller, slightly more refined version of a cob (although in my mare's case it also unfortunately gave her a lot of heat, temperament and opinions too which is all from the Welsh side!), but yours has retained a lot of bone and thick feather so she definitely favours the cob...

I don’t see any NF or Welsh in there. I don’t see any native breeds in there at all. Sorry.

Nothing to he sorry about ☺️ We were just pondering as you do. She’s hopefully going to be a fun pony with no expectations to live up to. She could be part hippo for all I care 😂😂

You can get a horse DNA test for under £100.

You just can’t guess genetics from a photo.

I wasn’t trying to guess genetics nor am I going to pay for DNA testing. I just wondered what others saw. Should have known better than to try for a lighthearted thread on MN 😬😂

I can’t see NF but I could be talked into him having a bit of Welsh cob in there.
Maybe some TGCA too.

Lovely wee cob. Probably some native in there somewhere but not loads. I'd expect finer legs and a bit less feather if anything significant

This is our Welsh/cob cross at just turned 4. He's rising 5 now and a bit more of a tank but the Welsh has given him a bit of length which has developed with work. Yours is very compact but lovely. Hope you have lots of fun with her. Cobs are great!
