Would you consider buying a horse with a sarcoid that appeared aged 11 years?
And if so, would you remove it?
Thanks!

It would depend where it was and yes on an 11 Yr old I would treat it. Is it definitely only 1 because they rarely just have 1.
I have previously layered with great effects but my 21 Yr old has just developed 2. They are on his belly, aren't increasing in size and nowhere near tack/rug straps. At 21 yrs old I'm not going to treat them unless they start spreading further or go funny looking.

It does depend a bit on where on the horse it is (legs not so much an issue but anything that would rub on a rug or tack would be a nuisance and would def need to be removed) and also whether as a PP says it really is only the one (sarcoid prone horses will often throw several more once they've had a first), and yes I probably would treat, but on the whole a single small sarcoid is one of the things I would take a chance on for a otherwise good and sound horse at the right price (obviously not for a show horse where appearances are everything), they're only a skin ailment at the end of the day and don't usually cause pain or lameness or anything really nasty so definitely one of the more liveable-with ailments...

Thank you all. The sarcoid is quite large and in the front axilla but quite near to the girth.
I’ve decided against this horse as I have tried one I have fallen in love with… please see my next thread!

Good decision. What's the new horse?
