Just bought a new horse and am relatively novice so would like horse insured including vets fees (atleast for the first year).
Other than NFU which equine insurers would folks recommend please?

Insurance Emporium. I've had 3 claims with them, all settled hassle free.

KBIS

But I would check agria too

Be careful you are aware of the payouts as some you pay the excess then still have you pay a % of the remaining vet fees.. works for some but a shock for others who didnt read the terms correctly. I use animal friends around £56

Been with animal friends for years and they e paid out some HUGE claims for me

I've had good experiences with SEIB.

Insurance emporium is another variant of the shit insurance offered by the same guys that run QE school.
There modus operandi is settle a few claims, get those scattered around social media, ignore the rest. Let me guess, you pay as a lunar policy.

Never had a problem with Pet Plan.

QuestionableMouse · 22/09/2023 00:35

Used Pet Plan and SEIB with no issues.

Having worked at QE in the distant past, I'd avoid anything to do with them.

Insurance Emporium were great for our old boy - he had a horror year of constant vet visits and total claims of more than £10k but they paid out with no fuss. He’s now on catastrophe cover only because he had too many exclusions for normal insurance to make sense. They’ve not been so good with DD’s mare when she needed surgery and only paid a fraction of the costs. NFU wouldn’t even give me a quote for her when we bought her because I’d made a claim before even though it was for a different horse and a different company. Friends have had bad experiences with both PetPlan and KBIS and premiums for all companies seem to be sky high at the moment
