When you make an emergency call to the vet on a Sunday and don't give your name or location and the vet just says I'll be there in about 20 minutes and knows who and where you are!

Yep, the joys of owning a TB 🙄.
Hope yours is OK but ehy do they always choose a Sunday/BH to need the vet for maximum emergency call out fee?

Talking to colleagues at work at end of day about how skint we are, I've just had to sell some items to buy shopping my hair roots are about down to my shoulders then I said sorry got to go the pony has physio coming at 5! 😅 my own recurrent sciatica goes ignored

countrygirl99 · 28/08/2023 19:50

@twistyizzy he only has one eye - the other was removed due to uveitis and the remaining eye was really puffy. Luckily it's conjunctivitis so eye ointment and fingers crossed it doesn't trigger uveitis in that eye. We joke he thinks he's a cat with 9 lives. He's had atypical myopathy (another bank holiday weekend), strangles, septic bursitis (omg the bill!), uveitis( day after my dad's funeral) and a colic where the vet was on her way back to pts (11pm naturally)when he did a thunderous fart just in time.

@countrygirl99 woe he really does have 9 lives! 2 friends' horses have died this year due to atypical mypoathy, he is very lucky!

I lost one and this one survived. It was 2014 when they had only just discovered the cause. I do reckon my vets should have a loyalty scheme. He's an old boy now but how he got there goodness knows. I managed to convince myself he couldn't see and sobbed down the phone, I'm usually very calm and controlled talking to the vet even when I'm really worried but lost it yesterday.

Hope he’s feeling better today . We had a thoroughbred who liked the vet , I used to joke that I’d bought him 2 new land rovers , she had all sorts wrong with her . We eventually had to have her pts as she got dementia

I know that feeling. I was still shocked after the call when I realised just my horses name was enough to identify me!

I feel your pain. At one point I was seeing the vet more often than my mother 🙈. I joked that my horse must miss him!
