Riding boots that last?

Lemieux7 · 12/08/2023 19:36

My daughter's riding boots are only 4 months old and already have holes in. She does ride most days and has also just been at residential camp but they aren't really cheap ones - I think I paid about £100 for them - they're Brogini.

I'm guessing I will have to buy Ariat or something similar for them to last.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Brogini are pretty naff these days. My last pair of ariat lasted about 10 years!

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 12/08/2023 19:47

That said I have some super cheap Horze ones that have surprised me

Tiespin · 12/08/2023 19:48

Ariat every time

Pleasedontdothat · 12/08/2023 19:54

We bought dd a pair of long Ariats at Olympia when she was 13 and hadn’t changed shoe size for a year or so - she finally retired them earlier this year and she’s now 20. She rides several horses every day so they get a lot of use - they’ve been replaced by another pair of Ariats.

elessar · 12/08/2023 19:55

I always buy Ariat, but they still wear through with regular use. But 4 months is really poor! I'd expect at least 3 years before significant wear & tear.

FWIW my Ariat grasmeres have lasted better than anything. I mainly use them as my winter boots, but I've had them around ten years with no significant wear. My field boots don't tend to last as well.

ArcticBells · 12/08/2023 20:07

Ariat. My Bromonts have lasted years apart from needing the zips replaced

QuestionableMouse · 12/08/2023 20:08

Mountain Horse are my go to - Ariat are good too but they don't fit my really wide feet!

Lemieux7 · 12/08/2023 20:14

Thank you! Ariat it is then. She's 14 and a size 4 and I don't think her feet will grow much more.

Mountain Horse or Ariat

Brogini are terrible - re Stuart my original pair are still going after 10 years but my last couple of pairs have been terrible. Bits fell off my country boots then eventually the sole after only a couple of years and my current ones have lost their waterproofing after only 6 months of wear. I now swear by shires aubrion they look fab the jod boots are just like ariats but a fraction of the price, dd has the long boots which are great too

liveforsummer · 13/08/2023 11:03

Sorry not aubrion -moretta boots.

Bonfire23 · 13/08/2023 11:06

Is she just riding in them or walking round/jobs in them?
The best way to keep them nice is to have yard boots and change into riding boots just before you ride
I have de niros which are gorgeous but they're put on to ride and taken off straight after!

Lemieux7 · 13/08/2023 22:00

Well at the moment she doesn't do yard work so this is only riding in them 🙈. When she does yard work I will definitely get her separate yard boots anyway.

Thank you, I have heard from someone else that Shires are good as well.

Stuart was supposed to say Ariat by the way - I've no idea what happened, anyway to summarise they used to be amazing but my more recent ones have been no where near as good for the huge price tag. The shires moretta have all been great for the price

Scubanicki · 18/08/2023 20:27

I bought Brogini for my daughter a year ago, and they are wrecked!! Holes in them, laces all gone. So following with interest. Bought her some cheap rubber ones from Decathlon but they are not the right asthetic apparently . Following with interest as it is her birthday soon!

Lemieux7 · 18/08/2023 20:48

@Scubanicki I'm glad it's not just us! They look pretty but are completely worn out after a relatively short time. I'm going to go for Shires but will make sure I buy all leather ones.

Riding stuff does wear out quickly. The seats on riding leggings also seem to wear out quickly and this is Lemieux and Aztec diamond.
