My DD8 is very keen to go but I know nothing. She us a very novice rider but loves pony’s. Which day is best! Am I right in thinking there is matinee or evening tickets for each day? I feel completely confused! Any help gratefully received. Many thanks.

Do you mean the London international horse show that used to be held at Olympia and is now at excel? Which day is best depends on what she’d find most interesting - we usually swerve the dressage and driving and either go for the puissance or for the showjumping Grand Prix. We go in the evening but it’s quite a late finish so as your dd’s quite young the afternoon might be a better bet. We’ve been going for years - it’s when Christmas really starts 😀

Do you mean the royal international at Hickstead? If so no matinees etc, just one ticket for the full day. Thursday is the best, the eventers challenge is fantastic

Yes I mean the one at Excel - sorry if not clear. Thank you. Is there a better day for children?

With Olympia with the exception of the dressage it’s all very very family focused. Puissance is probably the most exciting but getting tickets was always an ordeal (and it’s a midweek late finish so maybe not the best for a primary aged child).
Any of the day tickets would be fine, the showjumping classes will differ on each day but the displays etc are all the Same - they all have the Shetland pony grand national, Santa, etc etc.

We loved the Show Jumping World Cup last year (I think it was/is on Sunday)? The show jumping Grand Prix is on Monday.

All days are good, but maybe the Mini major might be a good class to watch. It's a junior rider on a pony paired with a senior rider and they each jump a set of fences in a relay race style. Fastest wins and can be pretty amazing to watch.

Thank you all so much that is really helpful.

Just be prepared for her to want to buy everything at the trade stalls. They are great to look round but a hazard to the budget. Maybe let her choose 1 thing as a Christmas present if it might be an issue.

Good idea thank you!
