Stirrups

So I need to buy new stirrups for DD age 10 and size 3 / 4 boots.
I’m old school so thought I’d measure boot and allow 7mm / quarter inch either side for size.
But the tech and free jumps only seem to come in child or adults. And she’s inbetween…
so can I ask for recommendations on stirrups please. For a very slim 10 years old doing pony club and a bit if SJ and XC. Ones that won’t break the bank either. But NOT peacocks.
Thank you

The acavallo ones are pretty reasonable as safety stirrups go

We have tech pony stirrups which are kind og of in between. Free jump kites go up to size 6 too (providing you were traditional boots) I can use both as an adult while wearing my jod boots but cannot use the free jumps wearing my boots that are similar to hiking boots with a heel. The techs are ok though

My son age 10 had acavallo junior ones, he fell off recently and his foot got caught in the stirrup. The safety arm didn't work. I measured the gap on either side was only maybe the tiniest bit smaller that a finger width.

Anyway, I brought him the le mieux adult ones which seem to be fine for him.

I'd definitely recommend the adults acavallo for that age. Dc used to ride a pony in them at age 6ams 9 and the adults were fine then

My son, size 3 uses my avacello ones just fine.

Why not peacocks? They are the safest at this age imo.

Thatbloomindog · 02/06/2023 18:35

Because their boots at size 3 are too wide and popping the band and the weight on the stirrups is causing them to open slightly and then again the bend loses tension and pops off. Bigger peacocks are too big and whole foot can go through.
We’ve had peacocks from day 1, but now keep having issues

Fair enough. I still remember the day dds band pinged off and pinged dpony. Luckily we were on an xc course

How scary @Thepleasureofyourcompany . Glad all was okay. what I’m earth did DPony say/do when she was pinged?

I thanks everyone for your input. Ponies are just a never ending reason to keep spending money aren’t they.
