Avon Skin So Soft Alternative?

The3rdWatermelon · 29/05/2023 10:40

I had a huge multipack of Avon Skin So Soft Moisturiser that I was using on my gelding’s belly. He gets awful bloody scabs on the patch of bare skin in front of his sheath, and this has been the only product that would do anything for it. We’ve nearly finished the last bottle and I’ve discovered it’s been discontinued!

Did anyone else use this? Is there anything else available that will do the same thing? It needs to be an insect repellent moisturiser otherwise we just end up with a sticky oily mess all over his belly and back legs.

It’s still in stock on the Avon U.K. website?

I can only find the oils on there, not the moisturiser cream?

Have a look at the EqWax range , they may have something suitable .

You try Amazon, I got a cream they’d discontinued on there.

I use nappy rash cream as the flies love our geldings sheath. It works very well

Apologies for misunderstanding. Yes they discontinued the cream several years ago, although the oil is just as good for insect repelling for my purposes. Hope you find a solution for your horse.

I use Filtabac for things like this

I use Biteback products for midges. The best stuff in general imo is Battles Summer Fly Cream. Only problem is it’s bright yellow!

I use neem oil on our pony who is prone to itch. I also have wundergel and Manuka and aloe cream from pro equine that I rate. I mix my own fly spray from the neem oil too. Is great for skin, smells awful. Also look at stinky stuff If that's no good
