Is a running plait acceptable for unaffiliated? Native horse, mane isn’t long but is thick, can’t pull it as that results in disaster (and as it’s so thick probably a traumatised horse!). I tried scallop plaits but it’s too short, normal plating I’d probably have about 50 plaits in.

so running plait or no plait or panic and hog it all?

Help!

I would go running plat. I know someone with a highland and this what they do for BD. Looks very smart!

Plait!

If your native is true to type and the rider wears tweed, shirt and tie, it's entirely correct and BD legal to compete unplaited, turned out /trimmed to breed standard. I did this for years, both unaffiliated and low-level affiliated and no-one ever said anything.

Panic and hog it 😄

….I would do a running plait if it’s unaffiliated.
